Netgear Orbi AX6000 Setup

 Orbi AX6000 is a mesh WiFi device which helps to increase signal range of WiFi. AX6000 Netgear Orbi router can be set up and managed through the Orbi app. At home or office if you have this Orbi device but don’t know how to install it. Orbi AX600 LED Behaviour

First let’s know about the LED behaviour of Netgear Orbi AX6000 router device. 

Power LED

The Orbi AX600 device power LED is located adjacent to the power connector on the real panel. 

  • When powered on, solid green LEDs show up. 

  • The Orbi AX6000 router or satellite is booting, then the power LED shows solid amber. 

  • When both router and satellite reset from factory defaults, then the power LED starts blinking amber.

  • Blinking red power LEDs means that the software is corrupted. 

  • When the Orbi AX6000 unit power LED is off, then it means there is no power supply. 

Router LED Bar

This LED bar is located at the front of Netgear Orbi router device. 

  • Pulsing white router LED bar shows that the Orbi router is booting or someone pushes the sync button. 

  • Off router LED bar defines that it finishes bottling and works normally. 

  • Solid white router LED bar defines that Orbi AX6000 is resetting to the factory default settings. 

  • The Orbi AX6000 router fails to connect with the internet, if the LED bar shows solid magenta. 

Satellite LED Bar

This satellite LED bar is also located at the front of the Orbi router. 

  • Satellite is booting up when a pulsing white LED is shown. 

  • Connection between router & satellite is good, when blue LED blinks for 3-4 minutes. 

  • Fair connection between router & satellite when amber LED blinks for 3-4 minutes. 

  • Satellite fails to connect with router, when magenta color LED shows up. 

  • Off satellite LED bars show that the satellite synced to the router and it is working normally. 

Configuration Requirements

To complete the Netgear Orbi AX6000 setup, grab a few things. Without getting those you face trouble such as Orbi not working, Orbi flashing red light continuously, etc. 


  • Modem must have a working internet connection. 

  • Gather ethernet and power cable which you get in the box. 

  • Also, take any WiFi device with access to a web browser and Google play store. 

  • Install Orbi application on your WiFi device. 

Netgear Orbi AX6000 Setup By App

  • Take a modem and Orbi AX6000 mesh WiFi device to connect them together. 

  • After that, attach one end of an ethernet wire to Orbi AX6000 mesh port and the remaining end of the cable with the modem port. 

  • Now, in the mesh power port, put in the power cable and plug the electrical in the wall socket. 

  • Further, download and open the Orbi application on your mobile phone. 

  • Make a new Netgear Orbi account and go to the next step. 

  • Click on ‘Let’s configure your Orbi’ on the next page. 

  • When the AX6000 Netgear Orbi router turns ready to setup, then join your WiFi device with it. 

  • Later, launch the device application camera and scan the QR code from the mesh setup bottom panel. 

  • In the end, your device makes a connection with the Netgear Orbi AX6000 router manually. 

Troubleshoot Setup Errors

Reboot Orbi AX6000 Device

  • Press the Orbi AX6000 router device power button to power it off. 

  • Now, wait at least 5 minutes and press AX6000 extender power button 

  • At last, try to connect the Orbi device with the modem again to check whether the issue is resolved or not. 


If the issue with Orbi AX6000 routers still persists then try another solution. 

Update Firmware

Go to the Orbi default login page or open orbi application. Fill in all the default information. Now, click on the software install option and check if any latest software file is pending or not. If the file is there then install it. 

Change Placement

Placement plays an important role in the working of the Orbi AX6000 device. Placement of the router should be halfway to your office or house. Also, check that closer to Netgear Orbi AX6000 device no metal or electronic appliance should be placed. 

Reset All Factory Default Settings

At the Orbi AX6000 router device back, you see the reset button. Push that reset button by paper pin for 10 seconds or until all LEDs are powered off. All off LEDs after pushing the reset button defines that the unit is now completely reset.
